Laser Hair Removal

The laser works by a principle called Selective Photothermolysis. The
laser is pulsed (turned on) for a millisecond emitting a beam of light
on to the skin. The light energy passes harmlessly through the skin,
but is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle and hair shaft. By
absorbing this laser energy, the hair follicles are disabled, impairing
their ability to grow. Hair does not actively grow at the same time,
and has three stages during the growth cycle. The hair follicles in the
first stage of growth are the darkest and absorb the most energy. Ice
packs may be used, along with a mild anesthetic, allowing areas to be
treated as painlessly as possible.

Benefits:

  • A non-invasive, gentle technique that eliminates undesirable hair from all parts of the body.
  • Leaves skin looking smoother and silkier.
  • Treats larger areas effectively because it removes more than one hair at a time.
  • Minimal discomfort.
  • Replaces waxing, electrolysis and razors.
  • Immediate return to normal activities.

Multiple sessions are required to achieve permanent reduction.

Skin Rejuvenation & Age Spots

Skin Rejuvenation is laser stimulation of new collagen in the deep skin layer, the dermis.
A major cause of wrinkles and acne scars is loss of collagen in the deep layer of the facial skin called the dermis. Sun damage will kill the collagen in the skin and when the collagen dies, the skin loses volume and shrinks. Laser skin procedures can stimulate the production of new collagen to the damaged collagen and plump up wrinkles and even acne scars in the skin. The laser procedures do this by irritating the skin as the treatment is done. The irritation causes inflammation of the skin and when the skin is inflamed the skin responds by producing new collagen. Laser skin care treatments are very effective at stimulation of new collagen formation even in the deeper portions of the dermis and are very effective at plumping acne scars and can improve wrinkles. It does take the body approximately four months to fully rebuild and produce this new collagen, although you will see noticeable results prior four months. The aging effects of the sun, called Photo damage, are not only dry skin and wrinkles but also pigment, called brown spots, sun spots, age spots, and "liver spots". Skin Rejuvenation procedures are very effective at removing pigment and photo-damage. These procedures require virtually no "down time" and you can go about your day as planned.

Acne

Over the last several years, lasers have assumed an increasingly important role in the treatment of acne scars.  At first, ablative lasers were used to sculpt or vaporize the skin's surface.  Due to lengthy downtime and potential complications, ablative procedures have become less common, in favor of non ablative laser treatments These techniques have the ability to promote collagen growth beneath in the skin below acne scars without creating any damage to the skin surface in the process.

Spider Vein Therapy

During laser treatment, a laser is applied to the skin over your spider veins. Laser energy causes your spider veins to coagulate and shrink. Laser therapy is most effective for small and medium size spider veins. Large spider veins respond poorly and are best treated with sclerotherapy. You are likely to experience mild discomfort similar to having a small rubber band snapping against skin. Treatments usually do not require sedatives, pain medications, or injections of local anesthetic.

Immediately following treatment, spider veins will be darker and more visible. Over two to six weeks, your spider veins usually fade. After each treatment, you will see a 70% to 80% improvement in the appearance of face spider veins and 30-40% improvement in leg spider veins. An average of three treatments will be required at three-month intervals to produce desired results.

Spider Veins of the Face

A patient with spider veins in the face will usually choose to have laser therapy rather than sclerotherapy. Laser treatment may cause minor bruising that usually improves within a week, but often, recovery is immediate. Two to four treatments may be required to achieve your desired result. Immediately following treatment, you may apply makeup for a presentable appearance.

Laser Removal of Cherry Angiomas (red spots on skin)

Red spots on skin which are of the type called cherry angioma are medically insignificant, but may be cosmetically bothersome.  Cherry angiomas are extremely common and are often familial. These spots range from barely visible pinpoint size up to several millimeters.  With time, cherry angiomas tend to increase in number and in size.  Diode laser treatment of these red skin spots is rapid and achieves excellent results, eliminating these lesions.  Laser treatment usually gets rid of the lesion permanently.  Although new red skin spots tend to form (in new locations) over time, they usually take several years or more to become large enough to become very visible.  These new red spots can also be treated with laser.  After laser treatment, the red spot, or cherry angioma usually becomes less red immediately, and may form a small crust or scab which falls away after a few days.  Because laser treatment is rapid, large numbers of red spots can be treated in a very short period of time.  Cherry angiomas are most commonly found on the chest, abdomen, and arms, but may occur in other body areas.
